Bio

Originally from California, Jennifer Tierney is intrigued most by lines, movement, and creating shapes through space. Her journey as an artist began as a professional ballet dancer with companies such as Ballet West, Milwaukee Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Owen Cox Dance Group and Concept Zero Contemporary Dance. From dancing full-time, she transitioned into costume design with both local and regional companies while also educating the next generation of ballet students. Ms. Tierney’s love for design blossomed in her runway debut at the West 18th Street Fashion Show. The success of this show was a sign that fashion, runway & costume design were always waiting in the wings past her almost 20 year professional dance career.

Ms. Tierney’s designs have been featured in six separate Kansas City Fashion Weeks, two West 18th Street Fashion Shows, two Omaha Fashion Weeks, and two Columbia, SC Fashion Weeks. Jennifer has designed costumes for internationally recognized choreographers and Regional Dance America companies. She has spent time volunteering her expertise for local art centric runway shows when she isn’t showing her brand.

Ms.Tierney has recently been awarded the position of Runway and Fashion Design Team Leader with Bra Couture KC, a 501c3 that raises over half a million dollars in one night for Kansas City based cancer survivors. With this organization, she liaisons the relationship between the designers and the cancer survivor/models. Ms. Tierney is thrilled to use her expertise in both art and pattern making in this celebration of the strength of women.

In 2020, Ms. Tierney launched the womenswear brand, Jeanne Nuage. As Jeanne Nuage’s Creative Director/Founder, Jennifer adheres to the belief that women are born powerful. This brand is runway worthy daywear and dancewear built to keep up with women and their active lifestyle. Extremely comfortable, and feminine, Jeanne Nuage is made for the women who do it all.

After hours, the JN shop turns into Kansas City Fashion Academy, a school for local fashion students ages 7-17. Ms. Tierney serves as the Dean and primary teacher for this project. Kansas City Fashion Academy is now the fashion school to 50+ enrolled KC Metro students. Fashion Arts in a nurturing environment!

Photography

Ms. Tierney's love of photography grew out of involvement with both the fashion and dance industries. Both industries get a ton of photo attention and Jennifer cut her teeth shooting fashion shows and professional dance performances such as Kansas City Fashion Week, Owen Cox Dance Group, American Youth Ballet, New Partners Dance, and Jeanne Nuage. Headshots and portraits are a favorite of Jennifer's as well. You have a story. Getting the opportunity to Individualize people and their vibe is something she says she will never take for granted.
